Estrada Real

The Estrada Real is considered a touristic highlight of Brazil because of the scenery and the historic villages. We were surprised to be almost completely alone on the road on many sections, not seeing any other tourists. We liked the road. Important note: For large parts it is a dirt road. It can be driven by any vehicle during dry weather. But be aware, that the road has many steep gradients up and down of up to 47%. Depending on the road conditions this can be a challenge. We had to engage 4x4 and reduction two times in order to climb up a steep rutted grade.
