Vets Veterinary Clinic
Sobre este lugar
The process of getting an international health certificate (aka CVI) for your pet in Brazil has gotten much more complicated recently. You still need the health certificate issued by the vet, but everything else must be done online to get the government approved papers to cross the border with your pet. Unless your Brazilian citizen/resident, you cannot do this online process yourself because you need a Brazil ID#. Dr. Roberta at this vet clinic helped us do all of this. We were the first customers to request this, so this was a learning process for us both. But after 5 days of struggling, she was able to successfully apply for the CVI with the Ministry of Agriculture. Once she gets the CVI papers from the Agriculture Department, Dr. Roberta will WhatsApp you the papers. You need to print it out and get it signed at a Ministry of Agriculture Office (there is one in Porto Alegre and one at each of the borders with Uruguay, we went to the one in Chuy). However, you should know that the Ministry of Agriculture person who reviewed our pet documents was incredibly and unnecessarily strict. The person did not accept our Argentinian rabies vaccine or vaccine certificate. We had to get a new rabies vaccine and certificate in Portuguese to get it accepted. It was ridiculous but because the entire process is done online, it’s very difficult to argue your case. So we lost some days going back and forth. So, if you need to travel with your pet outside of Brazil, get the pet paperwork early enough and don’t wait until the last minute. This was by far the most frustrating pet process in all of Latin America. Also, if you have a dog, you need to get a blood test. So good to plan early. No need for blood test for cats.
